DBS in the spot light again as it was hit by another ATM fraud incident again!!! DBS Bank said that it had $23,000 stolen from 17 customers' bank accounts last Sunday as fraudsters used Singapore ATM machines to make unauthorised withdrawals.

The bank received calls reporting the fraud from a handful of customers who were notified of the unauthorised withdrawals through SMS alerts from the bank. These affected customers were compensated the full amount within 24 hours. The SMS alerts are part of the enhanced security measures put in place after the ATM fraud scandal that saw $1 million stolen from the bank accounts of 700 DBS and POSB customers.

Investigation shown that the recent fraud is not a new case but rather a continuation of the same card skimming operation that took place last month.

Not many heard about the name the Remy Ong or know who he was until he was pulled into a Hit and Run incident on 18th Feb 2012. He was involved with a hit-and-run of a pregnant dog around the vicinity of Safra NSRCC. The female dog was reportedly hit by his Porsche with registration plate "SGS300B".

A passerby and a couple of cyclists blocked the road and carried the dog to the side while giving the dog some water. Ten minutes later, the female dog went into a fit and soon passed away with two broken legs, external bleeding and a miscarriage.

Remy Ong returned later to retrieve the registration plate which had drop off due to the impact of the accident. And when confronted each gave a different story which contradicts each and other...

Remy confirmed to be the driver involved and he will accepts full responsibility for the matter. Under the Road Traffic Act, those involved in a hit-and-run accident could be fined up to S$3,000 or jailed up to a year. This applies even if the victim is an animal.
